A number of constituents have recently been in touch about faith schools and their admission policies, so I thought it would be useful to provide a short update.
I previously posted a reply on this issue which you can view here, which contains some important background information as to why the current rules on faith school admissions may not be working properly and the Government’s aims with regard to reform. This information remains the most up-to-date.
The Government held a consultation on this issue, seeking the views of teachers, students, and parents. This consultation closed on 12 December 2016 and the responses are being analysed so I look forward to reading the Government response when it becomes available, and will be able to comment further once this has been released and I have, therefore, been able to consider it.
