October 2016 – Debate on Driven Grouse Shooting

Thank you for getting in touch regarding the upcoming debate on grouse shooting in Westminster Hall, scheduled for 31 October 2016.

I have received a significant amount of correspondence, both for and against, on this issue, and refer you to my previous position statement: http://www.selbyandainsty.com/campaign-response/environment-food-rural-affairs/august-2016-grouse-shooting/

In accordance with this, I plan on attending this debate and speaking in favour of responsible game management and lawful participation in shooting sports.  Game management plays an important role in the rural economy, generating income and employment in some of our most remote communities. For example, shooting contributes in the region of £2 billion to the rural economy and supports the equivalent of around 70,000 full-time jobs. I will therefore continue to support shooting sports and the rights of all those who wish to use firearms safely and in accordance with the law.

Thank you again for your email.
