Tadcaster will host the start of day 2 of the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire on Saturday 29 April.  Both the women’s and men’s raced will start in the town on their way to Harrogate.  The full race route has now been announced.

The 2017 Tour de Yorkshire will be a huge boost to the beautiful market town of Tadcaster, where work continues on the main bridge following its collapse in last winter’s floods.  Christian Prudhomme, Director of the Tour de France, Nigel Adams MP, and Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, recently visited the town to celebrate the race route announcement (pictured at the top).

Selby District Council backed a bid for Tadcaster to take part, as part of long-term efforts to support the town following the floods last winter.  You can find information and updates on the Selby District Council website if you want to watch the race in person. The Tour de Yorkshire is broadcast around the world, and the 2016 race boosted the regional economy by around £100m.

Find out more about the race, where the riders will go and how you can get involved, at a special event in Tadcaster on 8 December.
