Excitement is building for the fourth annual Selby and District Jobs Fair, as more employers sign up for the event.
The Fair, organised by Selby MP Nigel Adams, will be again held at Selby College’s Sports Hall on Thursday 9 October from 9am until 3pm.
Mr Adams’ team have been working hard to liaise with a variety of employers, to make sure the best locally and regionally are on hand to discuss the job opportunities with local people. The Jobs Fair is a great chance for those people who are looking for work or a career change, apprenticeship or training to meet prospective employers face to face in an informal setting.
Businesses who have so far signed up include Drax Power Station, building contractor Caddick Construction, and Sherburn-based firm Ultima Kitchens. Others include Clipper Logistics, Cranswick Foods, with hundreds of jobs and apprenticeships up for grabs.
Almost 800 jobseekers turned out to the successful Fair held last year, and it is expected that more will attend this year.
Nigel, pictured with college principal Allan Stewart, said, “I am thrilled to be holding my 4th Jobs Fair at Selby College next month, and hope to emulate the success of last year’s event.
“With unemployment having halved since the last election here in Selby, I want to ensure that there is no complacency as we continue the economic recovery. This year’s Jobs Fair is a fantastic opportunity for those looking for work to meet big business names in one room and find that perfect job.”
There are a small number of stands available now and employers who wish to recruit at the Jobs Fair can call 01937 838088 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
