Victory for Tockwith residents as NYCC rejects incinerator plan

Tockwith district residents are celebrating victory today as NYCC councillors unanimously rejected plans for a hazardous waste incinerator

Commenting on the decision, Tockwith's propective Conservative MP, Nigel Adams said "This is a fantastic result for local residents and for the campaigners who have been involved with the application from the start."

"Of course now, there may very well be an appeal and the campaign may not be over. But at least villagers from Tockwith and surrounding villages can enjoy their Christmas and New Year in the knowledge that they have won the first battle so resoundingly"

The BCB managing director has stated that he will recommend to his board that an appeal against the decision be launched.

Residents in Tockwith and surrounding villages have resolved to fight any appeal and fundraising is already underway to enable them to employ the best experts available to put forward their case.
