| Local beer sells out in House of Commons bar |
|
Rudgate Brewery was founded in 1992 and has celebrated two decades of casks ales this year. They are situated in the Vale of York between Wetherby and York. A classified local brewer, producing circa 120 brewers barrels per week, all their beers are produced using traditional methods. English malted barley and whole cone hops along with locally sourced water and their own unique strain of Yorkshire brewing yeast help to produce beers that Yorkshire can be proud of. They chose to stock Valkyrie, a full bodied bitter with hints of crystal malt and balanced bitterness, which was a special produced in January 2012 and proved extremely popular in the Strangers' Bar. After a visit to Strangers' to pull a pint of Valkyrie himself, Nigel commented; "It's always a pleasure to see a locally brewed ale behind the bar and particularly when that bar is the infamous House of Commons bar. Colleagues were queuing up to taste Valkyrie last night and I jumped behind the bar to pull a few pints myself!" |
