Nigel Adams is welcoming news that a decision is due this month on who will be chosen to roll-out high speed broadband across North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire County Council has been carrying out a rigorous procurement process following their designation as a superfast broadband pilot area by the Government.

The final touches are being put to a 50 million pound contract with the winning bidder which is due to be announced by the County Council later this month.

Nigel said “This is fantastic news. The introduction of high quality broadband connections to North Yorkshire promises to transform the county’s economic prospects. Developments in broadband technology are set to have a revolutionary effect upon homes and businesses in this part of the world. Better internet access will help to narrow the digital gap between rural and urban areas, reducing isolationism among the elderly and boosting access to education in North Yorkshire.”
