Nigel Adams dropped in to show his support – and offer some tips of his own – as yet another successful cricket coaching camp for juniors was held in the area.The summer camp was hosted by Selby Cricket Club, with the added bonus that the first of the four days was offered free, and was headed up by aspiring young coach Jamie Wheeler who has at the same time been raising funds towards the Selby Times-backed Hands of Hope charity for needy folk in the district along with the Thomas Cammack Appeal for research into the deadly form of cancer that claimed a young Selby boy’s life.
The event catered for all abilities aged six to 13 and children attending the full camp each received a free goodie bag. Mr Adams is captain of the Lords and Commons cricket team which takes part in various charity matches and recently toured India.
A former skipper at Drax, he is particularly keen to encourage local cricket and has regularly donated bats signed by international stars as a prize for a Selb |
