New bus service introduced to help fill 400 jobs on offer at Jobs Fair.

Employers attending the Selby Jobs Fair will be hoping to fill around 400 jobs. Of these nearly 250 will be on the Sherburn Industrial estate. To make it easier for people living in Selby or between Selby and Sherburn to get to work for early or late shifts a new Arriva bus service has just been introduced.

Nigel held a meeting with Arriva in August when the service was first proposed and said he was delighted that the service had been introduced so quickly. The new service means that people living in Selby have a direct link to job opportunities within the district. The Jobs Fair is about much more than just getting employers and job seekers to come to the event. Its also about projecting Selby District as a great place for new businesses to set up. A good transport network that meets the needs of people working early or late shifts is essential. The new service shows what can be done to match the needs of those seeking work with those of the employers.

The additional service is the first to offer a direct connection between Selby Bus station and the Sherburn Industrial estate. The bus will operate via Thorpe Willoughby, Hambleton, Monk Fryston, South Milford, Sherburn Centre and then to the Industrial estate. The service is designed to enable people to get to work in Sherburn for a shift starting at 6am and for those on a late shift to return to Selby at the end of the shift at 10pm. It also provides a valuable early bus into Selby in the mornings.

Nigel said, 'I am really pleased to know that a new bus service will be available to those working at Sherburn Industrial estate. This service should make it easier for people living in Selby and surrounding areas to get to and from work without any worry.'
