Local talent Jenna Darrell just one step from National Grand Final!

Fresh from making it all the way to the Teenstar UK National Grand final at the Birmingham NEC in the summer, Jenna Darrell who is just 14 years old from North Duffield has now entered Open Mic UK and wowed the crowd and judging panel at the Open Mic UK Regional Showcase final at Sheffield O2, she is now just one step away from performing at the National Grand Final.

Jenna has already progress through the audition stage held at Sheffield City Hall where she performed Angles and the Regional live showcase Final at Sheffield O2 where she performed Love me again, going through on Judges top scores, she is now just one good performance away from the National Grand Final, in the North East of England Area Final on the 30 November 2014.

Nigel Adams MP said, ‘I am very proud to see such a great local talent doing so well on a national level. I have been aware of Jenna’s success, which has gone from strength to strength for some time now, and she has my full support for the North East of England Area final on 30 November 2014. Good luck Jenna!’

Open Mic UK 2014 is the biggest search for unsigned talent in the UK, and travels the country every year in search for the UK’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres performing either covers or their own original material. The competition is brought to you by Future Music, the company behind the discovery of artists such as Atlantic Record’s Jacob Banks, Warner Music’s Birdy, Sony Music’s Jaymi Hensley from Union J and Jahmene Douglas, Luke Friend and Columbia Record’s Lucy Spraggan. Over the years the competition and Future Music have discovered some of the best new talent and propelled them to the big stage, working closely with Sony, Universal, Warner and Syco.

Thousands of hopefuls entered Open Mic UK nationwide and the best unsigned singers from across the country were chosen to perform at the live Regional Final shows. Jenna performed in front of a capacity audience and professional judging panel at Sheffield O2. They‘re now set to perform at the Area Finals for the chance to progress to the National Grand Final, where they will be fighting to win a £5000 cash prize to spend on the development of their act.
