This Christmas Eve, may I take the opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. My particular good wishes go to all our armed forces, emergency services, and others working tirelessly throughout the Christmas period for our communities.
It has been a pleasure to serve as MP for Selby and Ainsty for another year, and I have enjoyed meeting many of you across the constituency. My team and I have been on hand to help constituents with a wide range of issues, and have spoken to people on a variety of issues and topics. I would like to thank you all for taking the time to get in touch and share your opinions with me.
One of the many constituents I met with this year was Rebecca Harland. Rebecca founded The Red Box Project Selby, aimed at ensuring no young woman misses out on education due to her period. Inspired by Rebecca’s brilliant work, this year I decided not to send Christmas cards and will instead be making another donation to the project.
If you would like to make a donation to the Red Box Project Selby, or if you are a school in the Selby District who would like to know how you can offer Red Box to your students, please get in touch with my office for more information.
I am always impressed by the fantastic community spirit in our part of North Yorkshire and would like to thank all those involved in commemorating the armistice centenary this year. In particular, the team involved in the wonderful poppy display at Selby Abbey, it was breathtaking.
I look forward to many more visits to the Abbey in 2019 as we celebrate its 950th anniversary. I hope to see many of you in the town when Selby once again hosts the Tour de Yorkshire. The wonderful view of the Abbey at 950 will make a fantastic backdrop to a host of celebrations and events for the Tour.
As we approach 2019, I would like to remind everyone across the constituency that my team and I are here to help. You can contact me via email@example.com for help, advice, or to share your views.
For now, my family, my team, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful, healthy 2019.
