MP Joins Volunteers on Selby Playing Fields Clean-Up

Litter Pick-Up

Selby’s MP Nigel Adams joined volunteers in a litter clean up of Scott Road playing fields at the weekend.

Following a recent visit to meet staff and service users of the North Yorkshire Horizons rehabilitation project on Gowthorpe, Nigel was asked to join in with a team of volunteers in the clear up on Saturday morning and duly accepted.

Despite very cold weather, a dozen litter pickers set about their task and after a couple of hours had collected 11 bin bags of rubbish including cans, bottles and general litter.

Nigel Adams commented: ‘ I was delighted to join the North Yorkshire Horizons volunteers at Scott Road and I would like to commend them for the work they do to help people in the Selby District .’

Lesley Dawber of North Yorkshire Horizons added ‘we were so pleased that our MP was able to join us in the litter pick and we would like to thank everyone who gave up their free time, town councillors, volunteers, Amey plc (loan of equipment) and North Yorkshire Horizons staff.  Everyone worked hard in an effort to clean up and keep safe Selby town’s community area.
