Selby and Ainsty MP Nigel Adams (L)
and Frederic Landtmeters, Managing Director, Molson Coors UK & Ireland (R)
Tuesday 9th February 2016: Selby and Ainsty MP Nigel Adams has visited the Molson Coors brewery at Tadcaster where he met employees and was given a tour of the facility.
A member of the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group, Mr Adams was visiting the brewery to lend his support to the ‘Brew with your MP’ initiative, which was launched last year.
The scheme aims to encourage MPs to visit breweries in their constituency; to learn more about how beer is brewed and discover the vital role that beer and pubs play in the local economy.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Nigel back to the Tadcaster brewery to meet the Molson Coors team and to celebrate their fantastic work” said Frederic Landtmeters, Managing Director, Molson Coors UK & Ireland.
“The visit was a great opportunity to speak with Nigel about the benefits of three successive beer duty cuts in supporting renewed confidence in the brewing industry and to discuss the forthcoming developments and plans for the Tadcaster brewery.”
Mr Adams added, “As the local MP for Tadcaster, it’s important for me to support local businesses and understand the challenges and opportunities they face. Molson Coors plays a significant role in the community here in Tadcaster, making a strong contribution to the local economy”.
Mr Adams is supporting the call for a fourth consecutive cut in beer duty in the 2016 Budget, set to be announced next month. It is hoped further beer duty cuts will lead to increased investment in the beer industry and the creation of more jobs in the sector.
Molson Coors employs around 100 staff at its Tadcaster site, where it brews Carling, the UK’s No. 1 beer brand; Coors Light, one of the fastest growing beers in the UK; and Worthington’s, a leading British ale.
