The Selby Business Buddies with Nigel Adams MP
Selby Business Buddies started three and a half years ago, and Nigel Adams MP – having attended their very first meeting – makes a point of attending a meeting each year on their anniversary. This meeting was the fourth he had attended. He said: “Economic growth depends on small businesses growing into large businesses. I am delighted that in Selby District we have so many new businesses being set up. Selby Business Buddies is an excellent group because it helps new businesses succeed by enabling them to learn from each other.”
Mel Jobling of Print+, one of the founders of the group, said: “Over the years we have had over 120 local entrepreneurs attend our meetings. I appreciate the support that Nigel has given to the group and his commitment to supporting new businesses.“
The meeting was held at Monk Fryston Hall and each business shared their recent achievements. Nigel was a guest speaker and gave insight into the recent General Election, as well as the start of negotiations to leave the European Union. In the question and answer session that followed, he took questions on a wide range of topics, with many of them about support for new businesses and how to encourage those with ideas to take the leap and become entrepreneurs.
Nigel said: “The group has developed well over the years, and having started my own business many years ago, I know from first hand experience how valuable it is to be able to share business ideas with like-minded individuals.”
