Selby MP, Nigel Adams’s, impressive undefeated score failed to inspire his fellow MPs’ to victory against the Westminster Journalists cricket team in their annual fixture.
The House of Commons cricket team took on the Westminster Lobby journalists eleven in their annual limited overs game last week.
Opening the batting for the MP’s, Selby’s Nigel Adams batted throughout the whole 30 over innings, scoring an undefeated 65 runs. With other contributors from cross party team members, the MP’s scored 151 for 6 on a wicket made difficult by the journalist’s tactic of having most of their fielders on the boundary throughout the innings.
In reply the Lobby XI reached their target to defeat the MP’s, much to their delight with two overs to spare. However, speaking after the game Nigel Adams said, “It’s always good to score a few runs, but it’s never a good thing to lose, especially against the gentlemen of the Press Lobby. We’ll be ready for them next year.”
