Shortly after floods and gales caused damage to a number of areas in England in December 2015, Sport England launched its Emergency Flood Relief Fund to help restore pitches and repair community sports facilities damaged by the rising water and strong winds.

Sport England has today announced that it is investing £7,319 in two organisations in the Selby and Ainsty constituency to help with the clear up operation by repairing facilities and replacing damaged equipment.

The grants awarded are £5,000 to Bolton Percy Cricket Club, and £2,319 to Central Yorkshire County Scout Council.

Nigel Adams MP warmly welcomed the news, saying: “I am pleased at this very positive development in our ongoing process of repair and recovery from the floods.  Sport England’s grant program is much needed to help community institutions that might otherwise have been overlooked for assistance, and I am glad these two important organisations will be able to restore their operations more quickly.”
