This week Nigel Adams MP and his team joined MPs, celebrities, volunteers, service personnel and veterans for London Poppy Day 2018.
Organised by the Royal British Legion, Poppy Days take place across the country to call on local communities to get involved with the Poppy Appeal. This year, London Poppy Day took place on Thursday 1st November and was supported by thousands of volunteers and service personnel and veterans, as well as some famous faces and voices.
Numerous events and activities took place across the capital, with the aim of helping to raise over £1 million for this years’s Poppy Appeal. Funds raised throughout the Poppy Appeal campaign go to help the work of the Royal British Legion, supporting the Armed Forces community; serving men and women, veterans, and their families.
Team Adams joined over 2000 collectors across the capital on London Poppy Day, including uniformed services personnel, to sell poppies to members of the public. Helping out in Westminster tube station, the team helped out alongside serving Royal Air Force members from RAF Northolt base.
Speaking on the day, Nigel Adams MP said “My team and I were pleased to play our small part in helping out with the 2018 Poppy Appeal. It’s seems London Poppy Day 2018 was a great success across the capital. It was great to see so many people willingly supporting the fantastic work of our Armed Forces, and members of the public were digging deep to donate to the Poppy Appeal campaign. I was proud to stand with serving members from RAF Northolt who, alongside the rest of the Armed Forces community, work tremendously hard for the benefit of the country every day”.
