Local MP, Nigel Adams, is encouraging constituents to sign up for a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship 2018.
Established as a national memorial to Sir Winston Churchill, the Memorial Trust provides fellowships open to all UK citizens over the age of 18. They provide an opportunity to expand professional and personal horizons, having an impact on communities and professions across the UK.
Fellows are funded for a 4-8 week overseas trip, researching best practice and innovation in topics and counties of the individuals own choosing. Upon return, fellows receive assistance in how to use their findings to impact policy and practice in sectors and communities across the UK.
Fellowships are awarded for projects based on a selection of themes from healthcare to migration, and this year includes 3 brand new themes; emergency services, rural communities, and suicide prevention. An open theme is also available to those with unique ideas not covered by the theme on offer.
Speaking about the Churchill Fellowship opportunity, Nigel Adam said “I was pleased to learn about this wonderful; opportunity for those with a desire for research and innovation. As someone who was always keen to travel and understand the values of their cultures and countries, this is a fitting tribute to the late Winston Churchill. I would urge all constituents considering to do so, and am delighted that the Trust are working hard to make the scheme as accessible as possible opening up to as wide an audience as they can. This really could be the opportunity of a lifetime for successful applicants and it would be wonderful to read about the research project of fellow from Selby & Ainsty.”
