We're cutting income tax for over 25 million people, saving the typical taxpayer £705 a year. That means hardworking people keep more of the money they earn and are better able to provide for their families.
We've also cancelled Labour's planned fuel duty rises, helping small businesses and saving you £7 every time you fill up your car. A driver who fills up twice a week is saving £728 a year.

- We will continue to grow our economy by continuing to reduce taxes. The UK now has the most competitive tax systems in the world according to and by 2015 will have the lowest corporation tax rate in the G20. Reducing this rate will make UK businesses more competitive with corporations in other countries with which we do business. It is quite simple - lower taxes mean more money for businesses to expand businesses and create jobs. Economic stability and certainty are vital to ensuring that businesses grow and create more private-sector jobs for my constituents and the rest of the UK.
- We should also continue to reduce personal income taxes. Leaving more of people’s own money in their pockets is a sure fire way of helping our economy grow. While I approve of proposals that return money to the taxpayer, I am concerned at the temporary nature of any such measures. Temporary tax cuts are seen as political ploys that produce no long-term economic benefit. Individuals and businesses make investment decisions based on long-term certainty, not short-term tricks. Policies should be geared toward long-term growth.
Same Old Labour
In government, Labour raised income tax and increased fuel duty 12 times. Now they want to spend more and borrow more, which all of us would eventually pay for with higher taxes.Unlike Labour, the Conservatives are committed to helping people who want to work hard and get on in life.
