Nigel wants to see the continued rollout of superfast broadband right across the Selby and Ainsty constituency.
The Conservative Party is fully focused on ensuring that the entire country benefits from fast, reliable and secure broadband. Sajid Javid has pledged £5 billion to support the rollout of gigabit capable broadband in the hardest to reach areas of the country, which will be supported by new legislation to accelerate its delivery to millions of homes.
This legislation will build on the £1.8 billion that has been spent to bring superfast broadband to over 96 per cent of the country. In the two years to 2021, £650 million is already being spent to stimulate the market to deploy gigabit capable broadband connections, including a £200 million programme that will deploy gigabit capable broadband to local hubs in rural areas. The Conservatives have also introduced the Universal Service Obligation, which will entitle every home and business the right to broadband access at a minimum speed of at least 10Mbps from March 2020.
