NYCC have confirmed that the work is on schedule for the planned re-opening in June but, as stated all along, I will continue to push for it to be completed earlier if possible.
More of the causeway has now been completed and the final section of causeway requiring re-construction has been excavated and is now being re-built. The top picture shows the section being rebuilt. In the same picture you can see specialist stone masons rebuilding one of a series of bridge parapets where the road crosses over drainage dykes. The other pictures show resurfacing of the central section of the road.
The contract to rebuild the A19 was awarded under a Scape contract which also facilitates local community projects by encouraging contractors to get involved in supporting community projects. (Find out more on Twitter and Facebook by searching #TeamSCAPE) So far Balfour Beatty and their contractors have actively supported Selby Food Bank, Linbee Dog Rescue through monthly cake sales and have made donations to Selby Hands of Hope.
