On behalf of families and children with Special Needs and Disabilities, Selby and Ainsty MP, Nigel Adams questioned the Minister for Children, Families and Wellbeing, Claire Coutinho, about when Selby District would get a new special educational needs school.
Nigel highlighted the importance of finding the appropriate educational support for the most vulnerable pupils where mainstream education is not an option for them.
Families in Nigel’s constituency have found having to travel long distances to reach the schools right for them incredibly frustrating.
Nigel raised the proposed new Special Needs free school in Selby which was initially bid for in 2018 and asked when the facility will be delivered.
Minister Claire Coutinho offered to meet with Nigel to discuss this facility and explained plans for more special schools across the country.
Nigel Adams commented “I will be following up with the Minister and Department for Education immediately to ensure this vital new SEND school for Selby and wider area is delivered as soon as possible.”
