Nigel Adams MP said “I am delighted that Selby and Ainsty Community Groups have been awarded nearly £250K to enable them to continue their valuable work despite severely limited  opportunities for them to raise funds because of covid. Our community groups and charities have done a fantastic job through the covid pandemic and I would like to thank the many organisations and their members for their hard work and the support they have provided within their communities.”

A wide range of community groups have benefitted from Government financial support from the £750M support package.

In total Selby and Ainsty community organisations received £249,682 with each award being between £1450 and £100,000.  There have been eight awards of £10,000 or more.

The following organisations have so far received awards:

  • North Duffield Under Fives
  • Trio Supported Holidays CIC
  • Selby Hands of Hope
  • BRIGHT - Barlby Region Independent Group Helpers Trust
  • Tadcaster and Rural Community Interest Company Limited
  • The Clothing Bank
  • Tadcrafters Community Interest Company
  • Training for Employment (Yorkshire) C.I.C
  • Living Potential Care Farming C.I.C
  • The Bridge Project Tadcaster
  • Selby District Association of Voluntary Service
  • Tadcaster Swimming Pool Trust
  • Age UK Selby District
  • Project: WILD CIC

Oliver Dowden MP Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport said “A crucial part of the Government’s response to COVID has been the £750 million support package to ensure voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors across the country can continue their vital work during this difficult period. The scheme is one of the most generous in the world and by far the most generous in Europe for the charity sector.”

In Selby and Ainsty the funding enabled Tadcaster Swimming Pool to re-open as soon as lockdown measures were lifted. It has also supported community groups that have been providing a wide range of services in their communities during lockdown and especially over the summer school holidays – such as the North Duffield Under 5’s group, Trio Supported Holidays and the Summer School run in Tadcaster.
