“I am delighted that Selby Abbey is one of the many historic buildings to benefit from our £1.57BN culture recovery fund. We are rightly proud of our historic buildings and monuments and this fund will help protect them through the pandemic and into the future. We are #HereforCulture”
The £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund, was launched by Government in August and Selby Abbey is among the first historic buildings to benefit from the scheme. The government is #HereforCulture across our communities and is making sure that our most loved performing arts, heritage sites, independent cinemas, music venues and museums can weather the impact of coronavirus and come back even stronger.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England are working together to ensure that this significant investment from Government reaches the organisations most in need. This is the first tranche of funding for heritage and is part of the £92 million Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage - managed jointly by Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
